My translation output is typically between 2,000-3,000 words per day. However, the turnaround time can vary based on factors such as the subject matter, complexity of the text, file format and my current workload.

How do you charge for translation/transcription services? +

I typically charge per word for most translation projects and per minute for transcription work, with rates varying based on subject matter complexity and urgency.

I also offer project-based pricing for larger assignments like website localisation or book translation.

Why can't I just use machine translation? +

While machine translation tools have improved a lot, they still can’t fully understand meaning, tone, context, or culture. A human translator does more than replace words, they convey nuance, emotion, and intent.

Machines can’t tell when a phrase carries irony, when a word choice feels too casual or too formal, or when a cultural reference won’t make sense to your target audience. A professional translator ensures your message reads naturally and achieves its purpose, whether that’s to inform, persuade, or connect with readers.

Machine translation can be a useful starting point, but for anything that represents you or your brand, human expertise makes the difference between something that’s merely “understandable” and something that’s authentic and effective.

What file formats do you accept? +

I work with all common file formats and editing platforms including Microsoft Word documents, PDF's, PowerPoint presentations, Excel spreadsheets, plain text files, Google Sheets, Figma, Localizely, Transifex and more.

How do you ensure confidentiality? +

All client information and documents are treated with strict confidentiality as a standard practice. I'm happy to sign Non-Disclosure Agreements (NDAs) before beginning work.

I use Proton Drive for secure file sharing with clients. Proton Drive provides end-to-end encryption, zero-access security, and is protected by strict Swiss privacy laws, ensuring your sensitive documents remain completely confidential during transfer and storage.

Files are stored securely on encrypted drives and deleted after project completion per your requirements. I never share client information or work samples without explicit permission.

Do you offer proofreading and editing services? +

Yes, I offer proofreading and editing services for documents that have already been translated. This includes checking for accuracy, grammar, style consistency, cultural appropriateness, and ensuring the translation reads naturally in the target language.

This service is ideal if you have existing translations that need review or improvement.

What is the difference between translation and localisation? +

Translation converts text from one language to another while preserving meaning. Localisation goes further by adapting content culturally, including adjusting idioms, examples, currency, date formats, and cultural references to make the content feel native to the target audience.

For content such as marketing materials and websites, localisation is typically recommended over simple translation.

Can you handle technical or specialised content? +

Yes, I have experience with various specialised fields including legal, medical, technical, financial, and marketing content. For highly technical subjects, my turnaround time may be extended to ensure accuracy of specialised terminology.

What payment methods do you accept? +

I accept various payment methods including bank transfers, PayPal and Wise.

For larger projects, I typically require a 50% deposit upfront with the balance due upon completion. Payment terms can be discussed for repeat or high-volume clients.

Yes, I include one round of reasonable revisions in my standard service to ensure you're completely satisfied with the translation. This covers corrections, minor adjustments, and clarifications. Major scope changes or additional translation work would be quoted separately. Client satisfaction is my priority, and I work with you until the translation meets your needs.
